Halation

Privacy

Halation collects nothing about you.

What Halation does NOT collect

The app has no INTERNET permission

Halation's Android manifest declares no INTERNET permission, which means the app itself is technically incapable of making network requests. This is a stronger guarantee than a policy promise: even a compromised or malicious build of the code could not send data off your device without the OS blocking it.

Location data

If you enable geotagging in the app's Controls sheet, Halation reads your device's location at capture time and embeds the coordinates in the resulting photo's EXIF metadata — the same standard camera-app behavior you find in the stock Camera app. That location data lives in the photo file only. It is not transmitted anywhere by Halation.

Location access is off by default and requires an explicit runtime permission grant when you first enable it. You can revoke the permission at any time in your device's Settings.

Diagnostic reports

Settings contains a "Report an issue" button that gathers recent logs, device information, and current app settings into a text file, then hands that file to your email or messaging app of choice via Android's standard sharing dialog. Nothing leaves your device unless you explicitly send it. You can review the report content before sending.

Google Play Services

The Google Play Store may collect data about your Halation installation and usage patterns (installs, crashes, uninstalls, aggregate ANR reports, etc.) as part of its normal operation. That data collection is Google's, governed by Google's own privacy policy, and happens for every app you install from the Play Store — it is not something Halation opts into or controls.

Changes to this policy

This policy will be updated in place if the app's behavior changes. The "Last updated" date at the bottom reflects the most recent revision. Substantive changes will also be noted in the app's release notes on Google Play.
